After a hard time working of our dev team, Live Now has completed and now introduces you a new feature – Countdown Overlay. With this feature, you can easily add a countdown timer overlay to your live stream. This tool is useful in various situations, such as:
- Building anticipation before your live stream starts, letting your audience know when you’ll be live so they can prepare to join in.
- Counting down to an important moment during your livestream, such as announcing giveaway winners, birthday moments, or making a special announcement.
- Using a timer to track elapsed time from the start of an activity, such as the duration of a challenge, a sports practice session, or study time, solving a puzzle, etc.
Whether you are a professional streamer or simply want to make your live content more appealing, Countdown Overlay is a powerful tool to help you achieve that. Right now, this feature is only available in the Stream Camera mode on iOS. Let’s explore how to use it!
What is the Countdown Timer Overlay Feature?
The Countdown Timer Overlay feature allows you to add two types of timers to your live stream: GIF and Customize.
- The feature includes multiple GIF countdowns with various effects, ranging from 10 seconds to 1 minute.
- Users can also utilize the Customize Your Countdown option to create a timer with a custom duration.
- All GIF countdowns and customized timers can be adjusted in position and size on the screen.
How to Create and Use a Countdown Timer Overlay
Follow these steps to create a Countdown Timer Overlay:
1. Select Stream Camera mode > Tap Overlay > Choose Custom Overlay.
2. On the Overlay screen, tap the + button to add a new overlay.
3. Swipe right in the bottom menu and select Countdown.
4. Choose a countdown GIF or select Customize Your Countdown to create a timer with your preferred duration.
5. Adjust the position and size of the overlay on the screen. Then tap Done > Save > Name your overlay.
To activate the Countdown Timer Overlay when live streaming with the camera, simply tap on the overlay name on the screen to activate it.
Tips for Using the Customize Timer
With customized timers, you can perform additional actions while live streaming, such as:
- Start/Stop
- Reset (return the timer to its original time)
- Show/Hide
These actions can be controlled via the Countdown Control function.
How to Access Countdown Control
- First, activate the countdown by tapping its name.
- Long-press the countdown name or tap the Tools icon > Select Countdown Control to open the control panel.
You can use multiple countdowns within the same overlay. To better manage them, you can rename each countdown by tapping the Layers icon at the top of the Custom Overlay screen.
